Most mobility “remedies”
do more harm than good

Most dogs struggling with joint issues are given "remedies" that temporarily ease discomfort but the root cause never gets addressed. The stiffness and reluctance return in a few days, and the joints become more degraded, suffering from swelling, friction and grating. Your dog spends hours reluctant to play or go on walks, dragging behind on outings.

"My young dog and aging dog eat the same food and get the same exercise, but while the young one bounded ahead on our walk, my older companion dragged behind and needed to rest halfway through. I can practically see the reluctance in her eyes when I grab the leash now."

Pain relievers are one such "remedy."

Pain relievers help temporarily dampen discomfort, which provides some temporary relief. But the problem is they do nothing to address the root causes like inflammation and cartilage degradation. Not to mention most over-the-counter meds have side effects like stomach irritation. If you're looking to get your dog's joints back to full function - pain pills are doing more harm than good.

Joint injections are another.

While injections work temporarily by lubricating the joint space, it actually does nothing to stop the degradation of cartilage or inflammation. Over time, the joints further deteriorate, which creates a dangerous cycle where you become dependent on regular injections as the joints are no longer able to function properly on their own.

Weight loss diets are as well!

Weight loss diets may seem helpful for joint issues, but diet alone should never be solely relied on. This is because while losing weight takes stress off joints, it does nothing to rebuild cartilage or reduce inflammation. The joints aren't just carrying extra weight - they're literally breaking down from within. Knees need rebuilt cushioning between the bones, not just less force on them. Studies have even shown that obese dogs who lose weight still require further medical treatment for arthritis and joint problems.

Their joints take a toll over time

Age-related changes in cartilage cause older and younger dogs' joints to behave differently. Research has shown that the cushioning between bones gradually wears down with use and activity over a dog's life. Studies have also found that larger breed dogs are 5 times more likely to suffer from joint issues, and these problems increase as they age. The result is stiff, inflamed joints that lead to reluctance or inability to exercise and play.
